Safe Imaging Searching
Becky Todd
During this session, participants will learn to teach effective and safe image search strategies. Participants will learn basic search terms for finding relevant and appropriate images for inquiry-based projects using a standard search engine. Participants will also be given a quick overview of various copyright-safe image databases. In this hands-on workshop, participants are asked to bring a device (laptop, tablet, phone) and a topic for an upcoming unit (where students will be asked to locate images) for practice during the session. This session is recommended for librarians, classroom teachers in grades 3 and up (General and Judaic), and teachers looking to move to an inquiry-based model.
Becky Todd is a Librarian/Media Specialist who is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Digital Education Leadership. In her role as librarian, Becky collaborates with faculty to integrate 21st century learning skills into what the students are already learning in the classroom. She has worked to digitize the library's resources by developing a library website, blog and social networking presence.
